Jacket of My Dreams

First and foremost I want to thank everyone at Fox Creek Leather for good old fashioned American customer service.
I’ve been riding motorcycles since I was ten years old, my first bike was bought from an auction and pushed home by me, unknown to my mother. With help from our neighbors Volkswagen (ignition coil) I got it running. I grew up riding and working bikes as well as crashing them.

I’ve been a professional Harley Davidson Technician for thirteen years now, I’ve been riding for 20+ years now. I have seen many leather jackets over the years. I have owned cheap Pakistani made leather up to Harley Davidson’s premium FXRG leather jacket. My hd jacket was a little snug as I bought it when I lived in Florida and didn’t account for winter layers. I did some looking online and found tons of positive reviews for Fox Creek Leather. I found the Grayson jacket on their website and knew that it was my next jacket. I first bought the jeans style leather vest, wow, but that’s a different review.

This Christmas brought me the Grayson, the jacket of my dreams, well not exactly. It fit great, but a little long in the body, and a mixup sent the jacket without armor pockets. Not a big deal having dealt with them before, a quick call and the replacement was on its way. A few days later the jacket arrived, after trying it on and sitting on the bike I determined the length was an issue, and I would like a little more length in the sleeves, a personal preference. I took a lot of measurements and was certain what I wanted, I sent an email. Then made a phone call, we talked about my needs, and I also decided I wanted a few other modifications. For a little more money they were going to build my jacket custom to my specifications. I added a breast pocket, leather lined gun pocket, and had the measurements altered for me. They had me send the jacket I had back in so they could get the measurements off of it to be sure that the new one was made the to the same measurements, plus some here, minus some there.

Several weeks later I get an email, my jacket was on its way. I couldn’t be more excited. A couple days later I came home from the shop to find my belated Christmas present waiting for me. I opened the box and the smell of quality leather is unmistakeable, the jacket is buttery soft yet heavy and thick. I gave it a thorough inspection, it’s perfect, all the additions executed exactly as I expected. I then slipped my arms into the sleeves and zipped the massive brass Ykk zipper up. It fits over my pistol perfectly, I ordered a larger size for winter wear and because I carry a pistol (legally of course). I measured my chest over a hoody, and ordered two sizes larger. If you have doubts get someone to measure you over everything you will wear, and call Fox Creek, they will help you. Give them as much information as possible they are not psychic.

Now its the jacket of my dreams. The jacket feels great it’s like a second skin, my old jacket feels like tissue paper compared to this one and it was actually more expensive, and not nearly as well built.

I had to test ride a couple of bikes in twenty degree weather today and I was comfortable, with a long sleeved shirt with a t-shirt over it and the thinsulate liner in the jacket. I will be doing plenty more cold weather testing as I ride year round.
