Goodyear Leather Welt construction makes for a long lasting motorcycle boot. Leather welts expand and contract with changing temperatures and this natural flex decreases welt splitting and breaking. Plus, this construction style is easier to resole because the welt (which holds the sole on) is stitched to the insole.
Although the welts have this natural flex, lateral support is second to none. Leather welts are very difficult to twist, and lateral support is especially important on uneven terrain or general work conditions where there is a lot of foot motion.
The leather uppers are tanned using oils to protect and lubricate the fiber. They are generally thicker leathers and are considered work leathers although many styles are often used as casual boots.
The midsole is like building the foundation of a house. A solid foundation provides proper foot support and starts with a 4 iron rubber midsole which allows a solid adhesion to the outsole. The signature look for a Chippewa® welted boot is the robus midsole. This construction increases rigidity and reduces extreme flexibility in new boots. The boot creates a flex point and breaks in to your foot within a few days of being worn. Boots with robus midsoles demand to be worked, not babied.
Vibram® performance proven work sole and heel. Fine lines promote traction and minimum build-up. Fine line detail with center medallion will not pick up debris.
The exclusive Vibram® compound provides maximum traction on wet/dry surfaces and various terrain.
- Remove loose dirt or dust with brush or rag
- Replenish oils with an all-purpose conditioner. We recommend Montana Pitch Blend.

I have had a pair of these since 2006 and have used them on a lot of long distance rides all over the west. Good looking quality leather and style, but most important, very comfortable. Living in the LA area I occasionally work as an extra in movies.
Once I was a being a background biker - I walked around the set for 12 hours in these boots. While other extras were complaining their feet hurt I was fine! And after 8 years they will need resoled but still look good.
American made, you can't go wrong with these.

A truly fabulous pair of boots! As I was taking these boots out of the box the person next to me said, “Wow, that’s what I call quality leather!” When I put them on, they were everything that I have come to expect from Fox Creek Leather.
These boots are well made and equally important – they are exceptionally comfortable. Will they stand the test of time? We are still in the grip of Winter so I have not being able to see how they perform while riding. However, I have bought all my leathers from Fox Creek Leather, jacket, gloves, chaps and vest, so I am confident that these boots will not disappoint me. Recommended – you bet!
