Fox Creek Leather Motorcycle Gear | By Jeff Harrison

Read below for the story:

Recently, I was standing in my doorway getting ready to go out for a ride. I looked in the mirror and saw that I had on my Harley-Davidson boots, Harley-Davidson shirt, Harley-Davidson jacket, Harley-Davidson fanny pack (with my Harley-Davidson handkerchief and Harley-Davidson wallet inside), Harley-Davidson bandanna, Harley-Davidson gloves, and Harley-Davidson helmet.

I was horrified. I had become "Harley Guy," the type of guy that has Harley-Davidson stamped on everything he owns or wears. I hate that guy, but I had become him, the corporate sellout. I was rather disgusted with myself.

I immediately went inside the house and threw my Harley-Davidson jacket into the garbage can. Never wanted to see it again.

I started an internet search for leather motorcycle jackets. The name Fox Creek Leather kept coming up. I finally visited their site and thought that they had some beautiful products. Reading through their site, I was impressed by the thickness of their leather and the alleged care with which they are constructed.

I was very interested in purchasing one of their jackets, but was hesitant to buy anything because I would be buying it sight unseen via the internet from some place 8,000 miles away. So, I scoured the internet for personal reviews or comments on Fox Creek Leather Jackets. I visited many sites and many sources, but was unable to locate any negative comments or reviews. Not a single one.

I broke down and gave them a call. They went over specific measurements and eventually convinced me to get one size bigger than I thought I should. I bought the Classic Motorcycle Jacket II. I also bought a pair of braided chaps and some deerskin gauntlets.

The order arrived in Pusan, Korea from Virginia, USA in 5 days.

As many reviews had said, the leather was very thick and weighed a ton, but was very soft. Everything fit absolutely perfectly. although it is still a bit warm here in Korea, the vents on the jacket made it very comfortable to wear.

Well. Just a few days after getting the jacket and other leather gear, I was wearing my new jacket and gloves and I slid on something, missed a corner, and slammed into a concrete telephone pole. I broke my leg and was launched off my bike. I tumbled along the ground for about 30 feet.

The leather jacket quite possible saved my life and definitely saved me from serious blood loss and significant upper-body injuries. I had one minor scrape on my right forearm, which I believe was just a bit of road burn caused by the inside zipper lining on the right sleeve. There was absolutely NO damage to the jacket. There was a bit of dust on the right sleeve and right side of the jacket, but I dusted that off in the emergency room. There is not a single scratch on that leather jacket.

Having had the opportunity to go through the ordering process, the wearing of the jacket, and the evaluation of the jacket as a protective item in the space of about two weeks, I can, without the slightest hesitation, recommend Fox Creek Leather to anyone who is looking to buy thick, heavy, beautiful, expertly crafted leather motorcycle clothing. Those people know what they are doing. They know exactly what a biker is looking for in a jacket. Their product saved me from significant pain, blood loss, and possibly death. I cannot recommend them enough.

I couldn't be happier with this jacket | By Justin Brown

I couldn't be happier with this jacket, and I have recommended it to everyone I have met who is in the market. The leather is obviously of a higher quality (in feel, appearance, and thickness) than any that I have seen at bike shops, and the construction (design, stitching, attention to detail, etc.) is top notch. Not only is this a great looking/feeling jacket, but it is an exceptional piece of tested safety equipment; eight hours after getting the right size in the mail, I had a one in a million accident while wearing it, and there is no doubt in my mind that it saved my arm.

I dropped my bike on the expressway after hitting an overpass at sixty miles per hour. My helmet and right shoulder took the brunt of the initial impact, after which, I slid for about 150 feet on my right arm/shoulder into a concrete median. Once I finally stopped sliding, the only injury I sustained was a little road rash on my right knee. The bike was in pieces all over the highway, but the jacket was still in one piece, and had kept my arm form being both ripped off at the shoulder and ground down to a stump. The damage to the jacket was mostly cosmetic, as the thick leather and reinforced elbow/shoulder panels were sufficient to keep the road (even at that speed and length of slide) from grinding through. There is no doubt in my mind that without this jacket I would have lost my arm.

After the accident, intent on riding, I contacted Fox Creek Leather about repairing my jacket. Not only were they genuinely concerned about the accident, they were extremely helpful in expediting the repair and return of their product. Fox Creak Leather's customer service leaves absolutely nothing to be desired. Initially, it took me the return of four jackets to get my perfect fit (I'm 6'3" tall and 230lbs.), and each time, they were very understanding, helpful, and fast to ship, making the whole process easy and hassle free.

If in the market for a riding jacket, especially if it is to be a safety item, I can't speak highly enough of Fox Creek Leather, they're as good as it gets.

I walked/limped away due to the quality | By Joe Yarzebinski

Shortly after Joe's accident, we received a package with his jacket and chaps inside. He also included the following letter.

Dear Fox Creek Leather,

Four years ago I purchased the enclosed jacket and chaps (during the motorcycle show, formerly Rev 'N Roll, in Pittsburgh). On May 5th I dumped my Harley. Going into a sweeping left turn the rear of the bike went out from under me (gravel?) and I was forced to counter steer to the right. As the bike whipped and went down, I was thrown over the right side. The jacket sustained damage on the right arm - as I impacted the road, the zipper broke.

In short email to/from Chippy when I was researching if Fox Creek sold mesh jackets, Chippy asked if photos of the leathers could be taken. I said yes, and indicated that road rash to the jacket was minimal. Damage to the jacket was saved mostly by the vest that was covering it. You can see some road rash on the belt and belt buckle of the jacket. The most road rash was the chaps.

I am enclosing the chaps, too, with the jacket, in the event you are interested in photographing the chaps. I do not think there is anything to repair on the chaps.

The jacket and the chaps are still filthy from the accident. I have not cleaned them with Doc Bailey's. I plan to do that as soon as you return the jacket and the chaps to me.

Thanks for making a great product. I walked/limped away from the accident due, in part, to the quality of your leathers. I received a swollen right ankle and knee, and a bruising to my right fore arm, but the quality of the leathers kept me from sustaining any loss of skin to road rash and gravel grinding.

Please return the enclosed jacket and chaps to me as soon as possible. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thanks,

- Joe Yarzebinski

It saved my hide today! | By Kyle Kujala-Korpela

I recently (within the last couple months) purchased a buffalo nickel perforated vest and a commander jacket. Love 'em both. Today, I have another reason to love them.

Riding in the UP in March might not be the smartest thing in the world. I hit a patch of black ice doing about 45 miles an hour cornering. Not a 90 degree corner, but relatively sharp. I hit the ice, and the rear end came out from under me. I ended up sliding down the road, onto the shoulder and into the snowbank.

I got up and ran over to the bike to shut it off. I then examined myself for scratches, bruises, broken bones and everything else. I was fine. The only place I was scraped was my knee.

I wiped the jacket and vest down when I got back to the office. There is no damage on either. None. Now, I know 45 mph isn't horribly horribly fast, but I was expecting scrapes, a cut, worn leather, or SOMETHING.

I'm now putting a set of chaps on my NEED TO BUY NOW list. I just wanted to thank you again for a quality product. It saved my hide today.

Quality Leather Gear Can Save Your Life! | By Kirk Maynard

I wanted to let you folks know that while wearing your leather gear I had an accident with my Harley. Back in July 04 a car pulled out in front of me while I was going 40 mph. I couldn't get away from him. I am so glad I was wearing all my gear that warm summer day. The jacket and chaps kept me from getting road rash. I also believe that the chaps allowed me to keep my right leg. I ended up with a three C fracture of the femur, broken rib, smashed foot and a ruptured T 11 vertebrae. My helmet kept me from a closed head injury or worse.

I left this world for a little while but the experienced EMT's brought me back. The nurse and doctor stuck in traffic that horrific day came to my aid before the ambulance arrived and kept me alive. I was conscious the entire time except when I took a short break to leave the mortal world. I thank God and everyone there that day. I have a different outlook on life. A comment made by Tammy, the EMT, told me the leather jacket I was wearing was the toughest leather she has ever had to cut off in the last twenty years as an EMT. She told me she went through four pairs of shears before she got it off me. I told Tammy I bought the leathers from an American company, Fox Creek Leather! She said she has never seen a jacket quite like that one.

I have ordered my new Harley and will be riding soon. I plan on purchasing a new jacket and chaps before I go for my first ride after the accident.

Again, thank-you,

- Kirk Maynard

My Vest Saved My Skin | By Patrick Rehill

I previously purchased a braided buffalo nickel vest from you guys. I was recently in an accident and my bike was destroyed and I was thrown through the air and onto the cement. I had on riding boots, jeans, a t-shirt, and my vest. I hit the cement with a lot of force and my vest saved my skin. One tough vest... thanks for making a quality product that not only looks good but can save you when you need it most.
