St. Jude’s is the premier center in the United States for the research and treatment of pediatric cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases. Their physicians and scientists have pioneered treatments that have helped push survival rates from less than 20 percent in 1962 to more than 70 percent today. The survival rate for the most common form of childhood cancer, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, has risen from 4 percent in 1962 to 94 percent today. St. Jude’s is treating approximately 5,100 children at any given time.
