Ashlee’s Ride is a yearly event named after one of the earliest known victims of a mitochondrial disease. We hold this fundraiser to benefit a child who suffers from a mitochondrial disease.
Each year we collaborate with Riley Children’s Hospital to find a child who has a definite need and whose parents have no resources to fulfill that need. We have a fundraiser and then take care of that need for that child as well as donate a portion of the proceeds to the local chapter of the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation (www.umdf.org). Last year we were able to help the family of Yevette Moss get a wheelchair accessible van.
This fundraiser on June 27, 2009 will begin at Southside Harley Davidson in Indianapolis and includes a motorcycle Poker Run, and when the ride arrives at the Plainfield Eagles there will be a bike show, live entertainment provided by Indiana Band of the Year 2008 – Blue River Band, raffles, door prizes, bike games, and an appearance by Indianapolis Colts Cheerleaders, and a silent auction. All of the workers are 100% volunteer and 100% of the monies raised go to the sponsored child and the local chapter of the UMDF.
