I bought the heavy-duty sissy bar bag this past summer and after using it for a few months, I must say that it is probably the best $90 I have ever spent on my bike (at least for something that isn't chrome ha ha). Having a cruiser is nice, but (without the saddlebags on) unless you can carry it on you, you aren't bringing it along. In the summer heat, that means a cell phone and wallet at best.
The heavy-duty sissy bar bag from Fox Creek Leather is everything I hoped it would be. Now I can carry extra lenses for my glasses (and the case even), my cell phone, a baseball hat (folded in half), a few small tools, and still have room for a few other things. I got caught in the rain a few times, and nothing was wet when I got home. The whole thing is well made, and the straps are great too. I thought I might not like the actual buckles as opposed to quick-release buckles, but it turns out that now I like the old-fashioned buckles better.
Just today, the wife and I went for a ride to a friend's BBQ. We fit some small tools, an air pressure gauge, two pairs of regular sunglasses (in cases), a cell phone, AND a 12-oz can of lemonade and we probably still would have had room for something else if we needed it. It was nice not to have to put the saddlebags on (or stuff our jacket pockets) just to take a few small things along.
The only bad thing I can think of is that it's a bit of a pain to get strapped on to the sissy bar the first few times. After doing it once or twice and figuring it out, it's a piece of cake. It stays on really well too - I haven't even had to adjust it after 1700 miles of riding this fall.
If you need a little bit of storage on your bike, look no further. I can't recommend the Fox Creek heavy-duty sissy bar bag enough! It looks great, is very well made, and you don't have to adjust the straps all the time. You won't regret buying it.
[Note: Rod's bike is a 2007 Victory Jackpot.]
