Our 12" Bay Apache Harness boots are great for working on the ranch or every day casual wear. These harness boots are quality crafted in the USA.
Bay Apache is the name of a Chippewa® 5 to 5.5 oz leather that has a high level of wax and oil applied during the tanning process. Bay Apache is a light brown or tan color leather.
Goodyear Leather Welt construction makes for a long lasting boot. Leather welts expand and contract with changing temperatures and this natural flex decreases welt splitting and breaking. Plus, this construction style is easier to resole because the welt (which holds the sole on) is stitched to the insole.
Although the welts have this natural flex, lateral support is second to none. Leather welts are very difficult to twist, and lateral support is especially important on uneven terrain or general work conditions where there is a lot of foot motion.
The midsole is like building the foundation of a house. A solid foundation provides proper foot support and starts with a 4 iron rubber midsole which allows a solid adhesion to the outsole. The signature look for a Chippewa® welted boot is the robus midsole. This construction increases rigidity and reduces extreme flexibility in new boots. The boot creates a flex point and breaks in to your foot within a few days of being worn. Boots with robus midsoles demand to be worked, not babied.
The Vibram® Chippewa® Nitrile sole is designed for all applications where stability and comfort are key.
This is a traditional work sole design which provides a stable platform for hours on your feet. The exclusive Vibram® compound provides maximum traction on wet/dry surfaces and various terrain.

This boot was ordered in November with what I thought would be a Christmas delivery. Because of problems with the leather that would be used to make the boot I had to wait. Today the wait was over as the UPS man put them in my hand. The wait was well worth it. Out of the box onto my feet and they have to be the best feeling boot that I've ever worn. After about a half hour I forgot that I had them on. Would recommend these to anyone looking for a really well constructed riding boot or one for every day wear. Fox Creek Leather is number one in my book.

I bought these boots about three years ago. I wear them all the time. There is very little break in time as they are soft and comfortable right out of the box. If you're not used to wearing this type of boot though, they can take a little getting used to since your heel doesn't stay cinched down like in a lace up boot. Once the heel of the boot wore a little of the edge off, they were even better for walking. For a while I was wearing them every day walking about a mile each way from where I had to park and did not have any problems. You'll want to wear a good pair of thicker socks with them. Oddly, I find them more comfortable to walk in than to just stand in. They're very comfortable while riding as well. If you're concerned about it, and you have forward controls or upshift with your toe, you might want to get pegs that won't mark the boots. Mine didn't so much scuff it as end up leaving a darker mark on the boots. I use an apache boot cream now and then to keep the leather supple and take out bigger scuffs. Using a horsehair boot brush on them regularly will keep them shiny and looking good.
Great pair of boots that I would gladly recommend. Definitely worth the money.Did you find this review helpful?
