The Perforated Buffalo Nickel Vest is made out of 1.4 to 1.6 mm leather. Braid trim is located under the front pockets, in an arch across the back and in a V parallel to the front snaps. Perforated leather panels on the front and back combine with a mesh lining to provide superior ventilation. A generous 6" x 8" inside left breast gun pocket snaps closed. There are two outside front pockets.

The fit is excellent. Laced sides allow you to taper the vest to your body, let it out to accommodate layering, or fit the vest over your jacket. Workmanship is impeccable and the vest has a lifetime guarantee.

Simply awesome, 2007-10-29

My USA mail forwarding company dropped off the box containing my vest. The minute I opened the box and held the vest in my hand I stared at it with awe for minutes.

I'll be honest... I was not expecting this superb quality. The leather was smooth, supple and the vest was masterfully constructed. After I examined every inch of the vest and I put it on and it was the perfect fit, however I still had a doubt in my mind so I put on the rest of my riding gear and went for a ride on my Harley Davidson Street Glide.

Five minutes into my ride has extinguished any doubts I had. My biggest fear was that the vest might ride up and flap helplessly in the wind causing unnecessary distractions... but that did not happen. The vest felt snug and remained where it was supposed to be. Although I don't get much wind behind the batwing fairing, the side perforated panels do help by allowing more air to flow in cooling me down.

My riding buddies have all commented how good the vest looks. I have seen so many vests sold for cheaper (even higher) prices that do not even compare to the Fox Creek Leather vests. Now my friends are getting together to place a bigger order for our local chapter.

I would like to note that the customer service is awesome. When I placed my order the vest was not in stock. The staff at Fox Creek kept updating me on a regular basis and were more than happy to answer any questions. Overall I am extremely pleased by my purchase from Fox Creek and I will definitely return for more.

Men's Perforated Buffalo Nickel Vest, 2007-06-28

Fox Creek Leather is GREAT! I needed a leather vest, and having tried and returned several other "Brands" I was about to give up. Then one day while surfing the Net I discovered a forum with several laudatory comments about Fox Creek Leather Products. I went to their web site and found a "Perforated Buffalo Nickel Vest". To make a long story short, I called Fox Creek and was Greeted by one of the nicest ladies that I've ever spoken to (Ashley). I told her what I was looking for in a vest, and my size problem. She ask my measurements, and then went and gathered up several samples and tailored my measurements until she found a vest to fit. So I ordered it. Well my vest quickly arrived, a day sooner than expected, and the box was heavy. I thought, this can't be only the vest. Well it was! This is the nicest, softest, heaviest and best made leather vest I've ever seen! AND IT FIT! With the "perforated panels" on the front and rear there is a lot of "flow through" ventilation, perfect for hot Arizona riding. Two outside vest pockets are roomy and the inside breast pockets are large and secured, right side with a snap and the left "gun pocket" with a zipper. the inside lining is mesh, very comfortable. The stitching, seams, braiding are all top notch. With lace up sides, fit is assured. Already all my Ridin' Buddies want one too.

Thanks Fox Creek! I'm a customer for life!

It is a winner!, 2009-03-04

One of the things for which I had been unhappy about my old vest was that it was too warm for most of our Southern California riding. I would perspire quite freely underneath the vest, even though the wind would keep my arms and sleeves dry. Not much air got under the vest unless I rode with it open, but I don't prefer to have things flapping around in the wind. Secondly, I had loaded up my old vest with pins and patches, and it was time to retire it. When I found the Fox Creek Leather web site, then discovered that they offered a vest with perforated leather, I hoped that would be the solution.

I'm a big guy, and it took two tries to get the right fit, but the customer service was superb, thanks to Ashley.

Now that I'm riding with my new vest, it has proved my hopes to be well founded. The comfort level has gone up a lot as it flows just enough air through the front side panels and the rear panel to keep me dry. As a side note, when I spent some time in the local dealership to get some gewgaws for my baby, I was very comfortable with the vest on and snapped closed. The quality of the leather, the finish and craftsmanship are as good as any I have seen. My wife is a bit of a perfectionist, so when she exclaimed her approval of the style and quality, I knew I had a winner. I'll have no problem recommending Fox Creek Leather to any of my riding companions.

If you are reading this review, I'll assume that you are in the market for a vest or some other leather riding gear. Trust me on this: you have definitely come to the right place. It is obvious that the good folks at Fox Creek Leather love what they do, and are guided by a commitment to quality in their products and their service.

Looks so good, I don't even want to put patches on it, 2009-02-06

After purchasing my Commander jacket from FCL, I decided to look for a vest. Luckily, I hit them up while they were having a sale and picked up their last Perforated Buffalo Nickel Vest that was in the right size.

I love having pockets. One of the major reasons why I picked the Commander jacket was the giant map pocket. Wearing this vest gives me 4 more pockets, two of which (the interior ones) are big enough to hold a 'trucker' style wallet, with checkbook. The exterior pockets hold a variety of things well: from my cell phone to spare cash and change. I took to wearing this vest just about everywhere I go since all the extra stuff I usually have to stuff in my pants pockets fits very nicely in the vest.

I did not have any issues with heat while wearing the vest indoors (not that I was expecting to). Moving around even a little brings nice air circulation due to the perforated panels on the front, the perforated panel on the back and (of course) because it's sleeveless. I wound up wearing the vest (sans jacket) outdoors and for short jaunts to the truck at 5-10 degrees; it definitely kept me warmer than running out in my shirt sleeves. I wasn't going to stand around outside though for more than 2-3 minutes to test how much heat a perforated vest keeps in. Not crazy enough to do that in the Upper Peninsula (in the winter) anyway.

The laced sides definitely add to the adjustability of the vest. I can wear this over my jacket, under my jacket and of course, jacketless.

The buttons are a nice touch. You don't realize how big nickels are until you compare them to regular snaps. They lend a stylish touch (along with the braid trim) to the vest and contrast nicely with the rest of the vest.

I give this vest an A+ in every category. It's sad that they're discontinuing it.
