After months of searching for the right saddlebags I decided on the large straight saddlebags from Fox Creek Leather. I have been working with materials for 18 years in the Air Force and haven't seen better quality leather. It is made of top-notch material and workmanship. This grade of leather is rarely seen on saddlebags in this price range. They have held up wonderfully and I would recommend them to anyone interested in good quality saddlebags. Those guys done their homework when they designed these bags. I have been riding over 15 years and I am thoroughly impressed. The shipping was fast and trouble free.

Outstanding. I have had these bags for about a year and they are perfect. Outstanding craftsmanship, quality, sturdy, and look great. My wife just wishes I got bigger ones so she can fit her hairdryer. I am very glad I bought these bags. Nothing has ever gotten wet even in the heaviest rain and with just a bit of saddle soap I think they will last forever. I will buy from Fox Creek again and again. Also the customer service is wonderful. Super nice and helpful. More companies need to do business like these guys.

This is the first, and hopefully last set of bags I will be getting.
I'm using the bags as throw-overs on a 2006 HD FXST. They seem pretty stable, have a hard bottom, thick (1/8 - 1/4) back and they are actually rather stable without any brackets used at all. Be forewarned, though, that if you don't use brackets, make sure and have some heavy stuff in them if you like to crank the throttle. I've already had one kick up and hit me in the back because the empty thermos wasn't enough to hold it down.
There is a lot of room in these bags along with a fair amount of pockets/pouches per bag. The leather is top quality, feels great, heavy and durable and has that great leather smell. I was anxious to get these on my bike when they arrived and they did not disappoint.
I use one of my bags to carry my rain suit with me to and from work along with gloves, gauntlets (also Fox Creek Leather) and liners. The other bag is plenty large enough to carry a 20 ounce thermos, 750 page book, battery operated 18V drill and my lunch and still have room left.
Overall, I would highly recommend these if you travel somewhat heavier. These definitely beat the backpack I used to carry with me.Did you find this review helpful?

I purchased my 2006 Yamaha VStar 1100 Classic from Masons Yamaha in Effingham, Illinois. I used the Yamaha saddlebag supports for the Fox Creek Large Straight leather saddlebags. I did not have to relocate anything and it was very easy to install, just remove seat, throw them over, center them up, replace the seat and use zip ties to tighten them down to the supports. They look great on the bike and the black leather complements the black cherry color of the bike. It enhances the classic cruiser style of the bike and I am looking forward to getting the plain windshield bag to go with the saddlebags. I have had several comments on the bags and I tell everyone where I got them. It was an easy process putting them on, great quality product, excellent customer service and they look great. Lots of room and excellent quality. The vented cordura racing jacket fits like a glove and looks great as well. I have had several people ask me about it as well. Thanks for all of your help and advice. The jacket fit great just like you said it would.

My new saddlebags and ghost brackets arrived today!! The bags look incredible and help give my bike the look I have been after, as well as giving me some much needed storage. The mounting was reasonably simple. There were a few issues with how the bags and mount worked on my Vegas. The primary issue is that the saddlebags need to be mounted from the very top of the bag, just below the seam, which made getting the bolts and nuts on, a little difficult and the washers for the top bolts, impossible. Had I mounted the bag higher on the bracket, the top of the bags would have been higher than the rear fender and make it impossible for me to mount the second seat for a passenger. All in all, I think I am going to love these bags. Your customer service was impeccable, staff knowledgeable, and product, beautiful!
Thank you for a terrific customer experience!!

I bought the large straight bags for my 2004 Fatboy mid summer in 2007. I was trying to convince the wife to buy an Ultra Classic, but she liked the leather and chrome look of the Fatboy and said I wasn't old enough yet to buy it. I haven't seen this type of bag quality any where else.
Thanks Fox Creek

This is my third motorcycle in the last ten years. Never thought I'd get a set of saddle bags, didn't like the look of most of the bags on the market. If I was going to get bags, I wanted the real deal - leather, and wanted that old style look of soft bags. I looked long and hard at bags, went to several bike meets and never saw anything I liked until I came across Fox Creek on the Internet. When I first looked at the bags I didn't know how they would look on my VTX. I called and the customer service was great. They said if I didn't like the bags, send them back for a full refund. How could I beat that! So, after agonizing over the style, I decided on the Large Straights. I got the bags two days after I ordered. Put them on the VTX and haven't had them off since. They add a great look to the bike and I've had numerous compliments on the style of the bags. The leather is soft and supple. As the folks at Fox Creek said, keep a good coat of Montana wax on them and they'll take anything the weather can throw at them. I've ridden in the rain and they cleaned up with no problems. No leaks, either. I park my bike outside at work during the day and thought the bags would dry out, but using the Montana wax treatment on them every couple weeks make them shine and look like new. Cannot say enough about the bags, they are the perfect addition to my Black VTX.

Last spring I started riding a new VTX-1800/R. I love so many things about this fantastic bike that I could keep you here all day singing its praises...but I won't. One of those many things that enamors me so are the Xs great Retro look...beefy but elegant and fluid like the classics from the 40s and 50s. I wanted soft bags to go with the retro look of the bike and initially made a poor choice (I won't name names) but suffice to say that I should have gone with Fox Creek from the start. I have a Fox Creek jacket and it keeps getting better the more I wear it. Well...a couple of weeks ago, I got rid of those inferior bags and got a set of Fox Creek Large-Straight bags. They are fantastic...they compliment the retro look of the bike and my nice retro looking, after-market saddle with the antique looking v-rail so well that they look made to work with each other. People ask me all the time if my bike is a one of a kind or a custom. The leather is really thick and heavy duty but just as soft as velvet. The bags are like the bike...simple, nothing extraneous but utterly functional and beautiful. The mounting system is simple but works great. The zippers and buckles are tough looking and feeling but operate smoothly. The design is smart. Everything is in just the right place and works just right. These bags hold a lot of stuff too. I can leave home bundled up in the morning and ride in the cold White Mountains. When the sun comes out and warms things up, I have plenty of room to pack away all of my extra clothes, etc. I couldn't be happier. Now all I really need is more time to ride.
