Atlantic (New England) Road Trips

This is where it all began when some freedom-seeking Pilgrims landed on a rock almost four centuries ago. This region today offers incredible scenic roads for you to explore this region in much easier fashion than your forebears. Check out fall foliage in New England. Camp in the Adirondacks of New York. Find a friend in Pennsylvania (and New Jersey). Or visit Virginia's myriad Civil War battlefields (you know, the answers to questions you missed on multiple-choice history tests in middle school). It's all here.

MM190 - Virginia, E. West Virginia, Maryland and Delaware: 31 Road Trips

Looking for things to do in the Mid-Atlantic? Our road trip planner has done the work for you, from detailed turn-by-turn directions to the best attractions to see. Maps feature quirky stories of the region, plus roadside attractions, roadhouses and great outdoors. For example, check out such unique Mid-Atlantic attractions as: Chincoteague Island, Assateague State Park, Great Falls State Park, Lake Kerr, Seneca Rocks, Rocky Gap Park, Blackwater Falls, Point Lookout State Park, Fenwick State Park, Occoneechee State Park and Janes Island. And that's just the beginning.

MM200 - Pennsylvania and New Jersey: 28 Road Trips

Our local scouts found the best scenic roads, plus incomparable scenic attractions. There are plenty of things to do in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Discover the Delaware Water Gap, 40 miles of the Middle Delaware River that passes between low, forested mountains with barely a house in sight. Loll away some time on the seven-mile stretch of spectacular ocean and bay beaches called Sandy Hook Beach. Hike Mount Pisgah State Park. Horseback ride the trails at Moraine State Park. Drive around the best of Allegheny National Forest's half million acres. Immerse yourself in history at famed Valley Forge National Park, where General George Washington forged his Continental Army into a fighting force, during the winter encampment of 1777-78. And then there's Bushkill Falls, Ricketts Glen State Park, Hickory Run State Park and Presque Isle Stat Park...the list goes on and on.

MM210 - New York: 30 Road Trips

There are also steep mountains and famed attractions along the scenic byways and scenic highways found by our local MAD scouts. Take to the water on Maine Windjammer Cruises or visit that state's Acadia National Park, a place so beautiful it became the first national park east of the Mississippi. Explore gigantic boulders stacked like blocks at New Hampshire's Lost River Gorge. Get wild with the wildlife at Vermont's Smugglers Notch State Park or Green Mountain National Forest. Be awed by Massachusetts' Natural Bridge State Park, of which Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote: "The cave makes a fresh impression on me every time I visit it," or take a pilgrimage to Myles Standish State Forest in southern Mass. Pretend you're rich and hang out with the celebs at Rhode island's Newport Beach. Or enjoy Connecticut's intriguing Mystic Seaport. We've got it all covered with our New England road trip map.
